What country are you from and where do you live?

I am Canadian/Italian from Toronto, Canada 

Title of what you do and what company you work with?

My position at Farouk Systems is Global Brand Artistic Team member.  I create colour, cutting and styling trends. I create images for advertising campaigns as well as collections and stage presentations at hair and beauty shows internationally.

Education background (Hair school, art school, no school)?

I went to hairdressing school in Toronto at Marvel Beauty School then worked for world champion and stage artist Sabino Ditacchio at Ohair Salon.  Sabino was a great man that had a big influence on my career. He taught me the fundamentals to see shapes inside the hair and how to move hair.

What is your signature style/artistic expression to your work?

My artistic expression is in the transition of styling hair into different looks on set creating extreme and different shapes and looks on the same model. 

Do you have a career turning point or big break that has helped your career?

I’ve had so many career turning points being in the business for thirty years but the most significant one is definitely starting with Farouk Systems.  Farouk Shami is a great brand founder and hairdresser that I admire so much. As Global Brand Artistic Team Member, it has opened doors for me world-wide doing presentations and sharing trend collections from Canada and the United States to the Middle East and Europe.  

What was your scariest and proudest moment in your career?

My scariest moment was working on my first client in the salon and getting my round brush tangled in her long hair close to the roots so bad another stylist has to come and help me take it out.

My proudest moment was being recognized by my peers with all the awards that I have won in the industry.  They are all proud moments and value them all.

What is next for your career goals?

I’ve been working on a spring collection for Farouk Systems haircuts, coloring and styling.  I will be shooting steps and editorial images very soon in Houston at the Head Office.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in your business?

My advice is to constantly stay inspired and do the things that keep you motivated.  We never stop learning. Always be open to learning no matter what level you think you are at.  For me, learning about all aspects of beauty and fashion trends keeps me motivated and inspired.  This will give you the drive to be the best you can be.
