“I like playing with post production in artistic ways like distortion, melted movement and glitch-type images.”

Natasha Gerschon

What country are you from and where do you live?

I was born and raised in Argentina, Buenos Aires and now living in Toronto, Canada.

Title of what you do and what company you work with?

I am a freelance image maker, photographer, videographer.

Education background (Hair school, art school, no school)?

I went to Sheridan College for Applied Photography.

What is your signature style/artistic expression to your work?

I don’t think I have a signature look… I feel very strongly about pushing boundaries, exploring and playing with different mediums.  I like playing with post production in artistic ways like distortion, melted movement and glitch-type images.

Do you have a career turning point or big break that has helped your career?

I had the fortune to work with Revlon Professionals which kickstarted the hair and beauty world for me. Since then I’ve worked with reputable brands such as Aveda, L’oreal, Goldwell, Wella, Paul Mitchell, and Sebastian. Still to this day l do continuous work with most of them in a competition level and their academic institutes.

What was your scariest and proudest moment in your career?

As silly as it may seem, it was when I quit my job and went full force with my photography. Although I am usually impulsive and open to new things, leaving my main income and comfort was scary.  I had to make sure I was able to depend on myself.

What is next for your career goals?

I am always evolving, learning and staying curious.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in your business?

Like Ira Glass said “The most important thing you can do is do a lot of work.”  I agree. . The more work you do, the better you get, the more you shape yourself, the more you define your vision. Work hard. It pays off.
