Lise Watier Foundation Helping Canadian Women Claim Financial Independence

Watier Champions Confidence and Opportunity for Canadian Women

Watier Cosmetics is once again proving that beauty can be powerful, and purposeful. Throughout August and September, they’re donating $5 from every Love My Lips Caring Lip Oil sold directly to the Lise Watier Foundation, funding vital programs that support Canadian women in building stronger, more independent futures.

A recent survey by Watier reveals that 94% of Canadian women say feeling confident in their appearance boosts their overall sense of self  with 59% using makeup for empowerment and 55% leaning on lip products to feel more polished and confident. But it’s not just about confidence; financial independence matters too: 94% agree it’s essential to feeling empowered, 90% acknowledge wage gaps limit financial progress, and 69% prefer brands that invest in women’s economic advancement.

Watier’s initiative is more than a beauty purchase, it’s a tangible act of support. As Julia Geissen, Vice President of Marketing at Watier, puts it: “Beauty is more than skin deep, and should be a force for good.” Through this campaign, every purchase becomes an invitation to:

  • Fund transformation through the Lise Watier Foundation’s “Let’s Start Up Pathway,” offering training, coaching, financial assistance, and community to women launching businesses or pursuing education.
  • Drive real impact. As Marie-Lise Andrade, the Foundation’s President and Co-Founder, says: “Together, we’re creating pathways for women to take back their power, financially, personally, and professionally.”

Starting August 28 until late September, $5 of every Love My Lips Caring Lip Oil, sold at watier.com or major Canadian retailers like Shoppers Drug Mart, will go directly to valuable resources to help Canadian women reclaim their financial independence. These resources include local workshops and access to networks to help entrepreneurial women reach their fullest professional potential.

Socioeconomic Portrait of Women in Canada

Women in Canada continue to face significant socioeconomic challenges. Nearly half (44%) of working women earn less than $30,000 a year, and 73% report not having a financial plan to reach retirement goals. At the time of retirement, unmarried men hold 80% more accumulated wealth than unmarried women. In Quebec, women earn just 82.3% of men’s salaries across all professions, and mothers are six times more likely than fathers to leave their jobs if they lack access to childcare services.

A 2017 KPMG study highlights how early conditioning plays a role in these disparities. While 86% of women recall being taught to be kind when they were young, only 45% say they were advised on how to be strong leaders, and just 34% were encouraged to express their views. These statistics reveal how systemic and cultural factors intertwine, underscoring the importance of financial literacy, equitable opportunities, and empowerment for women at every stage of life.
