“My signature style is Basket weaving. I can make anything with an OCD approach!””
David Barron
What country are you from, and where do you reside?
I’m from England and I reside in Atlanta, Ga.
Title of what you do, and if you are aligned with a brand or company.
I am a salon owner and stylist. I am not aligned with a manufacturer, but it’s something I could consider.
Education background (school, salons, self-taught)?
I went to school at Vidal Sassoon in London and worked for them for two years, then went into the movie industry.
What is the first creative project that you remember?
My first creative project was working on a movie with Kevin Cossner, RobinHood, I put extensions in his hair.
What is your signature style/ artistic expression of your work?
Basket weaving, I can make anything with an OCD approach (lol).
What is the most fulfilling job you’ve worked on or someone you have worked with?
At the beginning of my career, I did a boot camp with Trevor Sorbie on precision haircutting. He was also a Vidal Sassoon stylist back in the day, but his approach was a little more unconventional.
Do you have a career turning point, a big break, or a person who has helped your career?
A person who has significantly helped me in my career is a man named Fugi, who is based in Atlanta. He was the first and only salon I worked for before I opened up my own
salon.
What was the scariest and proudest moment in your career?
The scariest moment was when I was the key guest stylist on Hamlet, as well as working on the Robin Hood movie. The proudest moment was when I received my first NAHA
award for hairstylist of the year after trying 18 times in various categories and being a finalist 15 times.
What is next for your career goals?
I don’t have a next goal. I will continue to run my salon, train my staff, and elevate myself and my staff, and enjoy life!
What advice would you give to someone starting in your business?
Work hard. Have the right attitude. And be kind to people.
