Celebrating International Women’s Day: The Power of Believing in Her

International Women’s Day is a moment to recognize the progress women have made, while also acknowledging the work that still lies ahead. Around the world, organizations, leaders, and communities are coming together to create meaningful opportunities for women to thrive. One initiative making a tangible difference in Canada is the “Believe in Her” campaign from the Lise Watier Foundation, now launching its fifth edition.

Rooted in the belief that confidence, opportunity, and support can transform lives, this campaign highlights the extraordinary impact that collective encouragement can have on women striving to achieve financial independence.

A Campaign Built on Trust and Opportunity

The “Believe in Her” campaign centers on a simple but powerful idea: sometimes all it takes is one person who believes in us to change the trajectory of a life.

This year, 44 ambassadors have joined forces to champion the Foundation’s mission and mobilize their communities to support women facing economic, social, or professional challenges.

Each ambassador is committed to raising $5,000, the amount needed to help one woman access the Foundation’s Let’s Start Up Pathway, a comprehensive program designed to empower women through training, mentorship, financial assistance, and access to a supportive professional network.

The campaign has an ambitious goal: raising $175,000 to support 35 women as they begin or rebuild their professional journeys.

Why Financial Independence Matters

Despite progress in gender equality, financial independence remains a critical issue for many women. In Canada today, more than two in five working women earn less than $30,000 per year, highlighting the economic challenges that persist.

The Lise Watier Foundation was created to address this gap by encouraging women to develop their skills, pursue education, launch businesses, or return to meaningful employment. Through its programs, the Foundation provides resources that help women build confidence, strengthen their abilities, and create sustainable professional futures.

Women Supporting Women

One of the most inspiring aspects of the campaign is the participation of women who have personally benefited from the Foundation’s support.

Among the ambassadors are graduates of the Let’s Start Up Pathway, women who have successfully transformed their lives and careers through the program. Now thriving professionally, they have chosen to return as advocates, helping raise funds so other women can access the same opportunities.

Their involvement reflects the powerful ripple effect of empowerment. When one woman succeeds, she often opens doors for others to follow.

A Community Effort

The campaign also extends beyond ambassadors to engage the broader public. This year, the initiative is supported by la Vie en Rose, allowing customers to contribute directly at store checkouts beginning March 8.

It is a reminder that meaningful change often comes from collective action. Every contribution, no matter the size, becomes part of a larger movement dedicated to uplifting women and strengthening communities.

The Meaning of Believing in Her

At its core, International Women’s Day is about recognizing the potential within every woman and ensuring she has the opportunity to realize it.

The “Believe in Her” campaign embodies this spirit by transforming encouragement into concrete action. By offering training, mentorship, and financial support, the Lise Watier Foundation is helping women reclaim their confidence and shape their own futures.

And perhaps that is the most powerful message of all.

When we believe in women, we invest not only in their success but in a stronger, more equitable society for everyone.
