Blowout Bliss

By Cheryl Gushue

As a curly haired girl, I’ve always struggled getting my mane of waves in a straight, orderly manner.  In fact, people that have known me for years have no idea I have a macaroni spiral curl when I air dry.  My hair has been the high maintenance bane of my beauty existence.

Working in the hair industry for two decades has taught me a few things – one of them is how to do a good pro blowout.  Sculpted shoulders is a great side benefit due to years of self administered bi-weekly blowouts. I find giving myself a good blowout utterly exhausting (insert inappropriate joke here).  I literally have to take an arm and heat overdose break from my forty five minute ordeal. A good salon blow dry is one of my most favourite and rather necessary indulgences.

As of now, I may have found my home blowout saviour.  The Hot Tools Blowout brush does the trick of a brush and dryer in just one-step.  The bristles are made from Boartech2™ bristles with activated charcoal that smooths out the hair and gives a faster drying time.  The styling surface is made with Thermaglide™ ceramic for consistent styling results with ION TECHNOLOGY® for faster drying, increased softness, shine and reduced frizz.

Today, I blow dried my hair with the Blowout brush and here is what I discovered.  Being a blow dryer/brush you get consistent even flow of air from the root to end.  The oval shape makes it easy to direct especially on the opposite side of the head where it’s harder to control and reach.  It’s got room to maneuver because of the very long nine foot professional swivel cord.

The shape of the brush allows for good grip, tension and root control to get the desired fullness you want.  The bristles are pliable and move with the shape of your head yet strong enough to grip. I found that the ends of my hair are straight and healthy looking without a big curl at the bottom that you can get from round brushing.  I most likely didn’t miss those parts that go kinky because the brush is large and you can take big sections.

I was pleasantly surprised with smooth and shiny results and my blow dry time cut down by ⅓!  This blow dryer meets round brush meets roller meets flat iron just gave me one of the best blowouts I have ever done.  I rarely do my hair when I am travelling but I might actually take this on my next trip!
